Team Activities
There are many team activities, and for the CPM Math teachers they are embedded in the daily lessons. Here are 3 of my favorites that can work with any curriculum. All of them tighten up team work, which is one reason they are featured here.
Red Light, Green Light•The team works together on a problem or set of problems.
•When they finish the problem, then they must Stop. •The teacher verifies the work/answer with questions. •The team is then given permission to Go to the next problem or set of problems. ![]()

Freyer Model PostersFreyer modle posters have a specific and easily understood format. I prefer to use them as a summary for a chapter's vocabulary and let them take a whole class period. Eight teams can each take a different term and create a class set of posters to display and teach from in subsequent chapters. A commercial Freyer poster template is available here.

Team Tests
Team tests are typically given 3-4 days before a "real" test and are basically a glorified study session. Problems need to be rich enough to provoke team discussion and short enough to be finished in a class period.
